General Information

With Japan’s surrender and the liberation of the Dutch East Indies, World War II officially came to an end for the Netherlands on August 15, 1945. To commemorate this, Mayor Stemerdink lays a wreath at the plaque of the Dutch East Indies Monument near the Dorpskerk.  This monument was erected in memory of three fellow citizens who lost their lives during the fighting in the former Dutch East Indies.
