Get Involved in Green Initiatives

A green environment is a pleasant place to live and play. It looks inviting, and it makes butterflies and bees happy, too. Could the green spaces in your neighbourhood use a little color? Then adopt a piece of public green space! Many residents have already done so. Check out the examples for inspiration. The municipality has also created a brochure: Get Involved with Green.

How does it work?

You notify the municipality of the piece of land you’d like to adopt. You can do this on your own or together with your “ neighbours.” The municipality will first check whether the piece of green space is eligible for adoption. The municipality will then contact you to schedule an appointment.

Have you already thought about the plants? During the appointment, you can discuss this with the municipality. The manager can also advise you on this and may have tips regarding maintenance. Tree pit and facade garden

You can also plant and maintain the soil around the tree in your street by adopting a tree pit. The creation of a facade garden is also possible. You are allowed to remove one and a half paving tiles along the facade and plant flowers there. Of course, there are places where adopting a tree pit is difficult. Greenery limits the impact of heavy downpours

The greener the environment, the better it is for humans, animals, and nature. In recent years, we have increasingly had to deal with heavy rain showers. More soil and plants ensure that rainwater can be drained quickly and can prevent streets from flooding.
