Check if your home still has lead pipes

Most of the water pipes are located under the floor or in the wall. Therefore, first check near the water metre to see if your house still has lead pipes. Are the pipes near the water metre made of lead? Then there is a chance that there are also lead pipes further along.

Replacement of lead pipes

Dunea is the sole supplier of drinking water in Wassenaar. Since 1995, the drinking water company has actively started removing lead pipes from its distribution network up to the water metre. If a piece of lead pipe is still found during work, it is immediately replaced. Home and building owners are themselves responsible for replacing any lead indoor pipes.
