Nationally Recognized Tourist Information Offices in Voorschoten and Wassenaar
Effective immediately, the Tourist Information Points at the library on Langstraat in Wassenaar and at Museum Voorschoten on Voorstraat in Voorschoten are official VVV offices. This week, Councilwoman Caroline Klaver (Wassenaar) and Paul de Bruijn (Voorschoten) unveiled the VVV logo on the facades of the library and Museum Voorschoten.
In 2020, Councilmember De Bruijn opened the Tourist Information Center at Museum Voorschoten, and Mayor De Lange and Councilmember Caroline Klaver opened the Tourist Information Center at the Wassenaar Library. Now it’s time for the next step: both locations will become nationally recognized tourist information centers.
Ralf Meppelder, chairman of Wassenaar-Voorschoten Marketing and director of Kasteel de Wittenburg, says: “In addition to the tourist attractions on wassenaar-voorschoten.info, last year we responded to the need among residents, visitors, and businesses for a physical Tourist Information Center. The VVV is by far the best-known brand in the Netherlands. More than half of Dutch leisure consumers use the VVV. It stands for quality, reliability, and personal contact. In addition, the brand helps boost revenue in retail, hospitality, and the leisure sector. That’s why we also wanted to join VVV-Nederland.”
Aldermen Paul de Bruijn and Caroline Klaver are pleased with the collaboration with Wassenaar-Voorschoten Marketing, Museum Voorschoten, and the Voorschoten-Wassenaar Public Library Foundation: “For our residents, the tourist office is a great source of information for learning about events, activities, and beautiful, undiscovered spots in our own villages. It’s great that visitors are getting to know our area. When you know what’s here, you’re more likely to stay longer, visit multiple destinations, come back again, and share your wonderful experience. That’s good for our economy.”
Hans Rasch (Voorschoten Tourist Information Office and chair of the Museum Voorschoten board) and Mariska Koning-Roozendaal (Wassenaar Tourist Information Office and library director) arealso enthusiastic about this development: “Ever since it opened last year, residents, visitors from outside the municipalities, and (foreign) tourists have been welcome at the Tourist Information Center. Now that it’s becoming a VVV, we expect people to find their way to our location even more easily.”
In 2020, many people visited one of the Tourist Information Centers. There is a wealth of useful information available about tourism and recreational activities in Voorschoten, Wassenaar, and the (immediate) surrounding area. You can pick up hiking maps, biking maps, boating maps, brochures on tourist and recreational facilities, a tourist and recreational map, VVV gift cards, and much more. Due to the lockdown, the VVV offices remained closed for quite some time. Now that they’re open again, everyone is welcome, and the staff is happy to assist visitors.
