Royal Honor for Hans Douw

On January 6, Mayor Nadine Stemerdink presented Hans Douw with a royal honor. The ceremony took place at Voorschoten ’97. As the club archivist, organizer of the international youth soccer tournament for players under 12, and organizer of the annual soccer quiz, Hans plays a key role in the club.

Not only does he archive the records, but he also keeps the archive alive by sharing a great deal with club members and the residents of Voorschoten, which demonstrates Hans’ passion for soccer and, above all, for Voorschoten ’97.

Two unique books

By writing two unique books, Hans has made a special contribution to the history of Voorschoten: “125 Years of Soccer in Voorschoten, 1989–2014” and “The History of Soccer in Voorschoten.”

Hans is also the organizer of the international youth soccer tournament for players under 12, where, thanks to his significant personal dedication and reputation, he was able to attract major domestic and international clubs to participate. In addition, Hans is a member of the disciplinary committee for District West II and a member of the KNVB’s licensing committee.

Proud of our successes and being able to laugh together

As a regular columnist for the Voorschotense Krant, Hans provides an interesting perspective on a (sports) event every month, usually with a connection to Voorschoten. Here, too, he helps foster a sense of community in the village of Voorschoten: taking pride in the successes of fellow villagers and laughing together at funny anecdotes.

Hans was awarded the title of Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
