Royal Honor for Fred Geugjes
Fred Geugjes, a 63-year-old resident, received a royal decoration today. Mayor Nadine Stemerdink presented the award in recognition of his contributions in areas including the welfare of people with disabilities and tangible cultural heritage. Mr. Geugjes was honored as a Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
The award ceremony took place during Mr. Geugjes’ farewell from the Huize Ursula Parents’ and Families’ Association in Nieuwveen.
Commitment to People with Disabilities (1996–present)
In April 1996, Mr. Geugjes became a member of the board of the Huize Ursula Parents’ and Families’ Association. For ten years, he served as treasurer and was a member of the executive committee. After this period, he continued as the board member responsible for legal affairs and held various other board positions.
Work related to paid employment (2001–present)
In March 2001, Mr. Geugjes became a member of the audit committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Staff Social Fund Foundation. Since February 2014, he has also served as a board member of the Sticol Health Insurance Foundation and as the point of contact for employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Commitment to Sports and Cultural Heritage (2018–present)
In April 2018, Mr. Geugjes became a member of the audit committee of the Adegeest Baseball and Softball Club. He also plays on the club’s slowpitch team as captain. In addition, he has served as chairman of the board of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Old Motorized Pumping Stations in Voorschoten/Leidschendam (STIBOM) since July 2022.
