Voorschoten Youth Council Meets with the Voorschoten City Council
On Wednesday evening, November 13, members of the Youth Council and the Voorschoten City Council will meet. The City Council invited the young people to learn more about the Youth Council and to discuss how the two councils can support one another.

A youth council has been active in Voorschoten for over a year and a half now. The city council would like to hear from young people about their experiences and how they would like to continue working with and for young people in the town.
Young People's Opinions
In February 2024, the Youth Council presented the report “Young People’s Views: A Report for the Municipality of Voorschoten.” In it, the young people addressed the topics of sports, leisure, the environment, housing, and the relationship between young people and the municipality. During the discussion, the young people will highlight a few points from the report and discuss them with the council members. In addition, the councils will discuss what they can expect from one another. Can the municipal council and the council clerk’s office do anything to support the Youth Council? And what can the Youth Council contribute to local politics?
Pleased with the initiative
Bert Jan Urban, town clerk: “The town council is pleased with the young people’s initiative. The council hopes it will help young people get even more involved in the town and make their voices heard. Together with the council, I’d be happy to explore how we can help them with this.” Miguel Boersma, chair of the youth council: “We were happy to receive this invitation. Even during the preliminary discussion, it became clear that we have a lot to share with each other. We’re looking forward to a productive conversation.”
