Youth Council Presents Recommendations on Housing and Climate to Alderman Schokker
On Wednesday, February 28, young people from Voorschoten presented research findings on housing and climate—along with recommendations—to Alderman Hubert Schokker. The findings are the result of a survey conducted by the Voorschoten Youth Council. Many young people from Voorschoten participated in the survey and shared their opinions.

The study was conducted by the recently established youth council, consisting of Miguel Boersma, Mylène Trippenzee, Sander Douw, Stan Perel, and Stefani Buenrostro Hoogwater. They are committed to supporting young people in Voorschoten aged 18 through 25 under the motto “Together, we can achieve a lot.” One of their goals is to lower the barrier to entry into politics.
Findings to be discussed in class soon
Alderman Schokker, who oversees resident participation: “It’s good to know what’s on young people’s minds. What are their concerns, needs, wishes, and ideas regarding housing and climate, as well as other issues?” The findings from the report and the Youth Council’s recommendations will soon be discussed by the municipal executive. “Of course, we’ll provide feedback on what the follow-up actions will be,” Alderman Schokker continues. “We’ve also agreed that we’ll closely involve the Youth Council in the development of the Voorschoten 2024 Environmental Vision. This Environmental Vision, which offers a glimpse into the future of Voorschoten, is expected to get underway soon.”
