Comprehensive Inspection of the Dobbewijk Industrial Park
The Municipality of Voorschoten, the police, and the Hollands-Midden Safety Region jointly conducted a comprehensive inspection. They carried out the inspection last Tuesday at the Dobbewijk industrial park. Thirteen buildings were inspected for compliance with laws and regulations. With two exceptions, the businesses had their affairs in order.
The inspection revealed that the vast majority of business owners are complying with the rules. However, the municipality did identify what is believed to be illegal occupancy at one location. There was also a violation of the Opium Act. The owner voluntarily surrendered the goods. The police are conducting a further investigation into the violation, and the municipality is considering imposing an administrative penalty on the owner.
Passed the inspection with flying colors
Comprehensive inspections are conducted by the municipality’s administrative intervention team. They are often unannounced. “We do this because we consider building and fire safety to be important,” explains Mayor Nadine Stemerdink. “But also because we know that criminal organizations can take advantage of well-meaning business owners, for example, for the trade, storage, and transport of narcotics. I am very pleased that the business owners who were inspected, with two exceptions, passed the inspection with flying colors.”
