Comprehensive Audit of the Voorschoten Industrial Park
The Municipality of Voorschoten, the West-Holland Environmental Agency, Liander, the NVWA Nature and Environment, HEIT, and the police jointly conducted a comprehensive inspection on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at an industrial park on Leidseweg. A total of nine businesses and ten storage units were inspected for compliance with various laws and regulations. Two dogs were also deployed to detect hazardous chemicals and explosive substances.
The inspection revealed that several companies were violating environmental regulations. For example, flammable and environmentally hazardous substances were not being stored properly. The Environmental Agency will monitor and enforce compliance. The municipality identified one instance of suspected illegal occupancy. Liander filed a report regarding electricity theft.
Comprehensive Audit
Comprehensive inspections are conducted by the Voorschoten municipal administrative intervention team and are usually unannounced. The inspections are intended to verify, among other things, building and fire safety, environmental regulations, and compliance with the zoning plan. Inspections also check for the storage of hazardous substances, such as raw materials for synthetic drugs or explosive substances in illegal fireworks. These inspections help improve safety and foster a fair business environment. The inspections are part of the Municipality of Voorschoten’s approach to combating subversion. If subversive criminal activity is detected, immediate action is taken.
