Comprehensive Audit of the Automotive Industry
Last Tuesday, the Municipality of Voorschoten, the West-Holland Environmental Agency, and the police conducted a comprehensive inspection of the automotive industry. Aside from a few environmental violations, no major irregularities were found.
Comprehensive inspections are conducted by the municipality’s administrative intervention team. Through these inspections, the municipality aims to prevent criminals from using legitimate businesses for their illegal activities. Building, fire, and environmental safety are also scrutinized during these inspections.
Business owners are complying well with the rules
“The automotive industry frequently uses flammable and environmentally harmful substances,” explains Mayor Nadine Stemerdink. “We also know that criminal organizations can take advantage of well-intentioned, legitimate auto businesses. That’s why we conducted this inspection. Fortunately, we found that the businesses in question generally comply well with the rules.”
Drip tray for batteries
In addition to areas that were in good order, such as building and fire safety, the West-Holland Environmental Agency identified a number of violations. For example, one of the business owners was not storing environmentally hazardous substances properly, and battery drip trays were hardly ever used. All business owners will be given time to rectify these violations.
