Drop-in session on WarmtelinQ at the Bondsgebouw
On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the Municipality of Voorschoten is hosting an open house about WarmtelinQ’s heating system. This could be a source of affordable, reliable, and sustainable heating for homes and buildings once natural gas is no longer available. Residents from all over Voorschoten are welcome to attend between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Bondsgebouw (Leidseweg 100).
At the Bondsgebouw, residents can join the discussion about heating without natural gas in general and heat from WarmtelinQ in particular. The municipality is interested in learning whether residents also see WarmtelinQ as one of the options for a shared heating system (also known as a heat network). Voorschoten is preparing for a sustainable future. Among other things, this means that homes and buildings will be heated without natural gas. So we need to find an alternative to natural gas.
Together or individually
For many homes, a heat pump is an option that residents can purchase on their own. In 2021, the city council indicated that it would also like to explore options for shared heat connections. This would allow a group of homes or even an entire neighborhood to be connected to a shared heating system, also known as a heat network.
City Council Resolution on WarmtelinQ
One of the potential sources for a district heating network is waste heat from the Port of Rotterdam. This heat is transported to the region via WarmtelinQ’s pipelines. Before the summer, the city council will pass a resolution determining whether heat from WarmtelinQ will be one of the options for the shared heating system serving (parts of) Voorschoten in the future.
Open House
The wishes, expectations, concerns, and questions that residents share during the open house will be presented to the city council. The council will then be aware of the issues at hand and can take this input into account when making its decision. Information about the transition to a natural gas-free future and WarmtelinQ will also be available during the open house.
