How and where can you vote?

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, you can cast your vote in the election for members of the Provincial Council and the general board of the Rijnland Water Board.

Voter registration card and ID

Prior to the elections, you will receive your voting pass or passes. This will take place between February 20 and 26, 2023. Depending on your nationality, you may receive a notice only for the water board election. If you are eligible to vote in both elections, you will receive two voting passes: one for the Provincial Council election and one for the water board election.

If you wish to vote in both elections, you must bring both voting cards with you to the polling place. The voting card proves that you are eligible to vote. You cannot vote without a voting card.

If you lose your voter registration card or have not received it, you can request a replacement at the municipal office counter no later than Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. The municipality must receive your written or digital request by Friday, March 10, 2023, at the latest. If you later find your “old” voter registration card, you cannot use it to vote. You can only vote with the new voter registration card.

When you vote, please bring your identification (passport, ID card, or driver’s license). On March 15, 2023, your identification document must not have expired more than five years prior; it must therefore be valid at least until March 16, 2018, or a later date. You may also identify yourself with a residence permit. You are required to show your identification to the chairperson of the polling station.

Please note! You cannot vote without a form of identification.

Where can you vote?

You can cast your vote for the Provincial Council and the Rijnland Water Board at any polling place in Voorschoten. Please note: these locations are subject to change up to one day before the elections. Therefore, be sure to check the municipality’s website regularly.

Before You Vote

Do you have symptoms consistent with the coronavirus? Stay home and get tested. Another voter can cast your ballot for you. To do so, fill out the back of your voting card. Give your voting card and a copy of your ID to the voter who will be casting your ballot.

At the polling place

Are you coming to vote at the polling place? Give each other space and maintain a distance of 1.5 meters. We ask that you follow the instructions given by the poll workers at the polling place.
