City Council Appoints Berend Potjer and Martijn Bolkestein as Coalition Formers

The city council has appointed Berend Potjer and Martijn Bolkestein as coalition negotiators. This decision was made during the special council meeting on Monday, April 13. The coalition negotiators will facilitate substantive discussions between GroenLinks–PvdA (PRO), VVD, and D66 with the aim of reaching a new coalition agreement.

At the special council meeting, facilitator Potjer provided an explanation of the final report. The party leaders on the city council then responded to it. They were positive about the speed, transparency, and quality of the final report and reflected on the pleasant and open discussions they had had with the facilitator.

The city council agreed with the recommendation to begin substantive discussions. A large majority also approved a motion by GroenLinks-PvdA (PRO), VVD, and D66 to appoint Mr. Potjer and Mr. Bolkestein as coalition negotiators. They will lead the discussions on a new coalition agreement, which can serve as the basis for the new city council’s agenda.
