The Municipality of Voorschoten Is Discontinuing X

The Municipality of Voorschoten is discontinuing its active use of X, formerly Twitter. The social media platform X has recently become less and less accessible to the public, and is therefore no longer suitable for keeping residents informed. As a result, starting Monday, May 26, 2025, no further posts will be published on this platform.

For the municipality of Voorschoten, it is important that residents receive information quickly and easily. However, without logging in, it is not possible to read the municipality’s posts on X. In addition, the changing nature of communication on X no longer aligns with the municipality’s standards and values. Furthermore, reach on X has declined in recent years, while interaction and engagement on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn are actually growing.

Crisis Communication

The municipality of Voorschoten no longer uses X in crisis situations either. In the event of a crisis, the municipal website and the social media channels Facebook and Instagram are used. If necessary, the municipality refers users to www.hollandsmiddenveilig.nl, the website of the Hollands Midden Safety Region.

Stay informed

The Municipality of Voorschoten continues to keep its residents informed through the municipal website and Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. On these popular platforms, the municipality shares news, important announcements, and inspiring stories from the town. The Municipality of Voorschoten retains ownership of the account and the username on X, so that no one else can use them.

Questions and Contact

Starting May 26, 2025, the municipality will no longer respond to reports or messages posted on X, nor will it respond to questions or comments posted there. As always, residents can contact the municipality or submit reports at www.voorschoten.nl/melden or by calling 14071.
