The Municipality of Voorschoten Designates Fireworks-Free Zones
The Voorschoten City Council has made a decision regarding fireworks-free zones for the upcoming New Year’s Eve celebrations. Residents are not permitted to set off consumer fireworks at six locations.
From 6:00 p.m. on December 31 to 2:00 a.m. on January 1, residents celebrating New Year’s Eve are permitted to set off consumer fireworks. This is stipulated in the national Fireworks Decree. However, to prevent danger, damage, or nuisance, municipalities may grant exceptions. In so-called fireworks-free zones, residents are not allowed to set off fireworks. In Voorschoten, this applies to six locations.
Be considerate of one another
“Vulnerable groups in particular—such as the elderly in nursing homes and animals in the pastures—need protection from the light and noise of fireworks,” says Mayor Nadine Stemerdink. “That’s why, just as in previous years, we’ve once again designated a number of fireworks-free zones in consultation with the site managers. Please be considerate of one another, even outside the fireworks-free zones. If we do that, we’ll once again make New Year’s Eve a safe and enjoyable celebration for everyone.”
Six Fireworks-Free Zones
The following fireworks-free zones have been designated for the upcoming New Year's Eve celebrations:
- Zone 1: Adegeest Residential Care Center
- Zone 2: City Hall, Berkhout Park, and Kruispunt Church
- Zone 3: Topaz Vlietwijk Nursing Home
- Zone 4: Foreschate Residential Care Center
- Zone 5: Bijdorp House
- Zone 6: Hotel Van der Valk, Voorschoten Petting Zoo, and riding school
