The Municipality of Voorschoten Is the Official Owner of the Kruispuntkerk
As of today, the Municipality of Voorschoten is the official owner of the Kruispuntkerk. With this purchase, the municipality is taking an important step toward redeveloping the church into a future-proof cultural center.

On February 12, 2026, the city council unanimously approved the purchase of the Kruispuntkerk. This decision paved the way for the further development of the plans.
Cultural Initiatives
Alderman Hubert Schokker is pleased that the municipality is now officially the owner: “Now that we have the key, we can really get started on redeveloping the Kruispuntkerk into a future-proof cultural center. Residents will soon find the movie theater in the heart of Voorschoten and will be able to enjoy many more cultural initiatives.”
Planning
The next step is to grant the final permit and begin the bidding process. Work on the church is expected to begin in the summer of 2026. Starting in September, this work will also become visible. The cultural center is expected to open in mid-2027.
Foundation
With the purchase of the Kruispuntkerk, the municipality has also become the owner of the square in front of the church and the adjacent lot. Following the redevelopment, the operation and management of the church will be transferred to an independent foundation. As a result of these developments, the previously planned residential building will no longer be constructed, and the wharf will remain part of the church for the time being. Plans for the redevelopment of the wharf will be worked out at a later stage.
