The Municipality of Voorschoten Leases Office Space in the City Center
Schoolstraat 13, Schoolstraat 19, and Treubplein 3. By leasing these three vacant commercial properties, the municipality will soon have sufficient office space at its disposal again. This is necessary because part of City Hall is being used to house refugees from Ukraine.
In May 2022, the municipality of Voorschoten set up emergency shelters in a section of the town hall. These were intended for more than eighty refugees from Ukraine. As the war continues, the municipality began looking for office space to work, hold meetings, and receive visitors. The commercial properties at Schoolstraat 13, Schoolstraat 19, and Treubplein 3 have been vacant for some time.
Buildings Connected to One Another
The commercial properties are owned by three different owners. Starting April 1, the municipality will begin renovating them. The properties will be connected to one another so that people can move from one building to another via internal passageways. This part of the renovation is reversible, so the commercial properties can be leased separately again in the future. The first office space is expected to be ready around May 1.
Drop-in Location
One benefit for residents and business owners is that the use of vacant buildings contributes to the quality of life in the area. The commercial property at Treubplein 3 makes an additional contribution, as the municipality plans to turn it into a walk-in center.
