The Municipality of Voorschoten Leases Office Space on Van Beethovenlaan
The Municipality of Voorschoten will lease office space at Van Beethovenlaan 69. As a result, there will soon be sufficient office space available for employees again. The decision is subject to approval by the municipal council. The council is expected to make a decision on May 23. The lease of the commercial properties at Schoolstraat 13 and 19 and at Treubplein 3 will not proceed.

In May 2022, the municipality of Voorschoten set up emergency shelter spaces in a section of the town hall. These were intended for more than eighty refugees from Ukraine. It was a compassionate decision, although it resulted in a shortage of decent workspaces for the staff. Because the war continues, the municipality began looking for additional office space.
Renovation Costs in the City Center Are Too High
The municipality had previously announced that it would rent three vacant commercial properties in the city center. Those properties were the municipality’s first choice, primarily because they are within walking distance of City Hall and because the municipality wants to help reduce vacancy rates. However, the final cost of the renovation turned out to be too high. Therefore, the plan has been scrapped.
Reception area, meeting facilities, and workspaces
The distinctive office building on Van Beethovenlaan dates from 1975. It is located a bit farther from City Hall, but will not require significant renovation costs. As soon as the City Council gives its approval, the city will adapt the spaces. The facility will include a reception area, meeting spaces, and forty workstations. The office space is expected to be ready before summer.
