The Municipality of Voorschoten offers households free in-home energy counseling

In the coming months, the municipality of Voorschoten will provide free energy advice to households that may be experiencing energy poverty. Energy coaches from the organization Klimaatroute will initially visit 280 households. They will offer advice and immediately implement small energy-saving measures.

After a brief home assessment, the energy coaches at Klimaatroute provide expert advice on measures to reduce energy consumption and, in turn, lower energy costs. These include replacing old light bulbs with energy-efficient LED bulbs, installing a water-saving showerhead, applying radiator wrap and draft stoppers, and much more.

Letter from the municipality

The maximum amount available for free is 150 euros. Klimaatroute’s energy coaches install the energy-saving measures directly in the home. Before the energy coaches arrive, households receive a letter from the municipality. This letter explains exactly what to expect and where to go with any questions.

Coordination with Other Organizations

To reach the right households, the municipality coordinates its activities with the housing associations Rijnhart Wonen, Ons Doel, De Sleutels, and Woonzorg, as well as with the Infrarood Voorschoten working group and the Plint project. These organizations are all actively working to promote energy conservation. This will make it possible to reach more households over time.
