The Municipality of Voorschoten Discusses the Initial Memorandum on the Housing Vision

At its meeting on February 9, the Housing, Land Use, and Green Spaces Committee will discuss the initial memorandum for a new housing vision for Voorschoten. A housing vision for the years 2019–2022 already exists. With the 2023 housing vision, the city council intends to update it. The first step is a preliminary memorandum. In it, the council will decide on the process for developing a new housing vision. For example, the preliminary memorandum describes the topics on which stakeholders—including residents—will be able to have a say, as well as which policy frameworks have already been established.

Other housing topics as well

Other housing-related topics are also on the agenda for that same evening, such as the position of the thirteen municipalities within the Holland Rijnland partnership on the regional housing ordinance. This ordinance sets out rules for social housing rentals. The regional housing agenda is also on the agenda, which includes agreements regarding housing construction.

More affordable housing

The municipality of Voorschoten is committed to increasing the supply of affordable housing. Because the local housing vision is based on both national and regional policies, the municipality has little leeway to determine its own policies. Where we do have the flexibility, we would like to involve our residents and stakeholders in drafting and adopting the vision. More news on this will follow in the spring of 2023.
