City Reopens Bidding Process for Skatepark Renovation

The Municipality of Voorschoten will restart the process for renovating the skatepark. An assessment of the process revealed that the online voting round did not comply with the procurement rules. Therefore, the process will be restarted. The ideas and requests that residents previously shared will be retained.

The municipality is working on renovating the skatepark on Sint Nicolaespad. As part of this effort, users, nearby residents, and other residents shared their ideas about the skatepark’s future design during a public participation event and an online vote. Upon review of the process, it became clear that the online vote should not have been included in the bidding process in this manner. Therefore, the process will be repeated.

Important Basics

Alderman Rachèl van Hellemondt: “Many residents have shared their thoughts on the future of the skatepark in recent months. We understand that having to repeat the bidding process may be disappointing. That is precisely why I think it’s important to emphasize that the ideas, wishes, and points of concern we’ve gathered will not be lost. They will remain an important foundation for the next phase of the project and the final design.”

Innovation remains the goal

Together with the Rijk Foundation, the municipality is working on a new bidding process and new award criteria. The goal remains to renovate the skatepark. As soon as more details are available, the municipality will inform residents and other stakeholders.
