Municipality Conducts Survey on Loans to Help People Live at Home Longer

Through a survey, the municipality of Voorschoten is investigating whether residents are interested in a loan to continue living at home for longer. The municipality can offer various loans that residents can use to adapt their owner-occupied or rental home. These are loans from the Incentive Fund for Public Housing Dutch Municipalities (SVn).

If residents want to continue living as long as possible in the neighbourhood and on the street where they know everyone, it is sometimes necessary to make some modifications to their homes. These might include installing extra grab bars in the bathroom, moving the bedroom to the ground floor, or installing a stairlift.

Alderman Hans van der Elst: “SVn offers people the opportunity to continue living in their own homes for longer—for example, as they get older or become less mobile. We’d like to know if residents of the municipality of Voorschoten are interested in a loan from SVn. So I warmly urge our residents: please fill out the survey. Then we can get to work with the results.”

Three types of loans

The municipality can offer three types of loans. The Stimuleringslening is a mortgage loan or a personal loan. This loan only applies to owner-occupied homes. With the Verzilverlening, residents use the home equity on their property. This loan also only applies to owner-occupied homes. The Blijverslening is structured as a mortgage or personal loan. This loan offers opportunities for homeowners, as well as tenants.

The survey consists of 10 questions. It takes no more than 5 minutes to complete. Residents can participate until September 30.
