Municipality Conducts Survey on Loans to Help People Live at Home Longer

The municipality of Voorschoten is conducting a survey to determine whether residents are interested in a loan that would allow them to continue living at home longer. The municipality can offer various loans to help residents make modifications to their owner-occupied or rental homes. These loans are provided by the Dutch Municipal Housing Incentive Fund (SVn).

If residents want to continue living as long as possible in the neighborhood and on the street where they know everyone, it is sometimes necessary to make adjustments to their homes. These might include installing extra grab bars in the bathroom, moving the bedroom to the ground floor, or installing a stairlift.

Alderman Hans van der Elst: “SVn offers people the opportunity to continue living in their own homes for longer—for example, as they get older or become less mobile. We’d like to know if residents of the municipality of Voorschoten are interested in a loan from SVn. So I warmly urge our residents: please fill out the survey. Then we can get to work with the results.”

Three Types of Loans

The municipality can offer three types of loans. The Incentive Loan is either a mortgage loan or a personal loan. This loan is available only for owner-occupied homes. With the Home Equity Loan, residents can tap into the equity in their home. This loan is also available only for owner-occupied homes. The “Blijvers” Loan is available as either a mortgage or a personal loan. This loan offers options for homeowners as well as renters.

The survey consists of 10 questions. It takes no more than 5 minutes to complete. Residents can participate until September 30.
