City to Invest in Treubplein
At its meeting on January 29, the city council decided to allocate the investment appropriation of €680,000 for the redevelopment of Treubplein.
Based on the unanimously adopted development vision for the city center, the municipality created a design for Treubplein. The goal is to improve the square’s accessibility, ease of access, and quality of stay. The new square will feature a playground, outdoor dining areas, informal seating areas, and the well-known cheese, spring roll, and oliebollen stands. In addition, there will still be space for parking.
After discussing the proposal at the meeting, the council opted for a revised proposal, as a compromise between the municipality’s vision and that of the Voorschoten business community. Under this revised proposal, fewer parking spaces will be eliminated than originally planned.
Prominent location in the city center
“Treubplein is an important location in our city center,” says Alderman Paul de Bruijn. “We’re investing in it by redesigning it to make it a more vibrant square. In the coming months, we’ll be working to finalize the revised design, which brings together the vision of the businesses on the square and the city.”
