Municipality and Partners in the Social Sector Renew Their Collaboration

The Municipality of Voorschoten and its partners in the social sector, such as Voorschoten Voor Elkaar and the Center for Youth and Family, are renewing their collaboration. By working more closely together, they are ensuring that residents in need of assistance can be referred to the right professional more quickly. A new development for residents is that, starting January 1, 2025, they will also be able to contact the municipality directly for youth assistance requests.

Residents with questions about well-being and prevention have been welcome for years to reach out to the municipality’s partners, such as Voorschoten Voor Elkaar and the Center for Youth and Family (the GGD’s youth health care service). This will remain the case. Under the Social Support Act (Wmo), residents could already contact the municipality directly for services such as household support, counseling, and daytime activities, or Wmo assistive devices like stairlifts and door openers. Starting January 1, this will also apply to youth services, such as psychological treatment for a child or youth and family support.

It's quite a complicated world

“The social sector is quite a complex world,” notes Alderman Hubert Schokker. “With youth services, employment and income support, and the Wmo, the social sector is also very broad. On the one hand, you may have to deal with many different parties. On the other hand, it’s sometimes difficult to figure out where to turn with your request for assistance. We want to improve that further. The municipality, together with its partners, will ensure that all incoming requests for assistance are directed to the right place as quickly as possible. By coordinating our efforts even more effectively behind the scenes, we expect to serve our residents even better.”

Being able to find each other easily

Voorschoten Voor Elkaar is looking forward to this renewed collaboration: “To serve our residents well, we need to be able to reach out to one another easily. We’re excited to focus our joint efforts on the future. Starting January 1, residents can still go directly to the familiar locations for poverty and debt prevention, promoting financial self-reliance, social work, volunteer and informal care support, gatherings to meet others and get involved in the neighborhood, and independent client support.” The Center for Youth and Family remains available for questions about parenting or children’s health and development, such as sleep problems, dealing with teenagers, vaccinations, and social media.
