Area-Based Approach
The municipality of Voorschoten consists of 12 neighborhoods. These are Adegeest, Bijdorp, Bloemenwijk, Boschgeest, Buitengebied, Centrum, Dobbewijk, Krimwijk, Nassauwijk, Noord-Hofland, Starrenburg, and Vlietwijk. Each neighborhood is different and requires a different approach.
The goal is to create neighborhoods where people enjoy living and working. Residents should feel at home where they live and be involved in their neighborhood. That is why collaboration is so important. The municipality works together with residents, business owners, and other organizations. By taking a neighborhood-by-neighborhood approach, we can prevent problems earlier and develop solutions that are tailored to each neighborhood.
What is area-based work?
Area-based approach means that the municipality assesses the needs of each neighborhood individually. We listen to residents, business owners, schools, and organizations, and incorporate feedback and ideas from the neighborhood into our plans and actions.
By maintaining a presence in the various neighborhoods, we bridge the gap between the municipality and its residents. This also ensures that our plans are better aligned with reality and increases the engagement of our residents, business owners, organizations, and partners.
Your point of contact in the neighborhood
The Municipality of Voorschoten works with community coordinators. They know the neighborhood, are aware of what’s going on, and connect residents, organizations, and the municipality with one another. Many residents appreciate having a single, dedicated point of contact for questions, ideas, or initiatives in the neighborhood.
