Area-Based Approach
The municipality of Voorschoten consists of 12 neighborhoods. These are Adegeest, Bijdorp, Bloemenwijk, Boschgeest, Buitengebied, centre, Dobbewijk, Krimwijk, Nassauwijk, Noord-Hofland, Starrenburg, and Vlietwijk. Each neighborhood is different and requires a different approach.
The goal is to create neighborhoods where people enjoy living and working. Residents should feel at home where they live and be involved in their neighbourhood. That is why collaboration is incredibly important. The municipality works together with residents, business owners, and other organizations. By taking a neighborhood-by-neighborhood approach, we can prevent problems sooner and develop solutions that are tailored to each neighborhood.
What is area-based working?
Area-based working means that the municipality assesses what is needed on a neighborhood-by-neighborhood basis. We listen to residents, entrepreneurs, schools, and organizations, and incorporate signals and ideas from the neighborhood into our plans and actions.
By being present in the various neighborhoods, we shorten the distance between the municipality and its residents. This also ensures that our plans align better with practical needs and increases the involvement of our residents, entrepreneurs, organizations, and partners.
Your point of contact in the neighborhood
The Municipality of Voorschoten works with area coordinators. They know the neighborhood, are aware of ongoing developments, and connect residents, organizations, and the municipality. Many residents appreciate having a single dedicated point of contact for questions, ideas, or initiatives in the neighborhood.
