Gas Leak on Leidseweg

There was a gas leak this morning on Leidseweg, near Piet Heynlaan. The gas line was struck during excavation work. The fire department contained the gas with a water curtain and, as a precaution, evacuated the surrounding homes, Praktijkcollege Het Metrum, and the BLOS daycare center. The city was prepared to provide a temporary shelter, but fortunately that proved unnecessary. Network operator Aliander has since sealed the gas leak. There were no casualties.
