A Festive Event: The Voorschoten Horse Days

The annual Voorschoten Horse Days took place on July 24, 25, and 26. “Kudos to the Voorschoten Horse Market Committee, the Voorschoten Kortebaandraverij, and all the business owners and volunteers who made the many festivities possible,” said Mayor Nadine Stemerdink.

“Together, we can look back on a very successful edition of the Voorschoten Horse Days,” the mayor continues. “This was partly because we were able to rely on the expertise of two veterinarians this time and there was plenty of water for the horses. In the coming years, we will continue to work on improvements that will further enhance animal welfare.”

Tit for tat

Unfortunately, after the festivities ended on Saturday evening, there were a number of incidents near Treubplein, requiring police officers from the Leiden-Zuid beat to intervene. In consultation with the police, Mayor Stemerdink decided to impose a penalty order on one troublemaker. This means that if the individual reoffends, they will face an administrative fine. Three other troublemakers will receive an official warning.
