Additional consultation with the advisory group regarding the Leidseweg-Bachlaan and Mozartlaan intersections
The Leidseweg-Bachlaan and Leidseweg-Mozartlaan intersections are being redesigned. In mid-April, the city will hold an additional meeting with the focus group. Participants will then have another opportunity to share their views on the proposed design.
“During the first two meetings, residents, the Fietsersbond, and a parent traffic representative from the schools exchanged ideas on how to significantly improve the traffic situation,” says Alderman Hubert Schokker. “But just when we were convinced we could share the results at a public information session, it turned out there were still differences of opinion. We take this additional feedback seriously. That’s why we’re now planning an extra consultation.”
30-km zone and speed bumps
The redesign is intended to improve traffic safety and visibility at the intersections, especially for cyclists and pedestrians who wish to cross. In the proposed designs, for example, the intersections will be redesigned based on a 30 km/h zone. They will also be raised and painted yellow. In addition, crosswalks will be added, and the intersections will be marked with traffic signs and, in the evening, with warning lights.
Information Night
If the focus group reaches an agreement during the additional consultation session in mid-April, the municipality will organize an information evening for local residents and other stakeholders two or three weeks later. The municipality is committed to addressing the mobility issue in the safest way possible. It remains committed to involving residents in this process through participatory processes.
