The municipality of Voorschoten is committed to making homes more sustainable. In doing so, the municipality receives assistance from the Duurzaam Bouwloket and from the energy coaches of the Voorschoten-infrarood association. Sustainable living also means better living: better for your wallet, better for the environment, and better for your living comfort. A good initial step towards successfully making your home more sustainable is to inventory heat losses. An infrared thermal imaging scan can clearly visualize this.
Thermal scans and energy advice by energy coaches
Duurzaam Bouwloket has trained a number of energy coaches in Voorschoten to capture and interpret infrared images and to provide energy advice using a software package developed by them.
How does a scan work?
You can apply for a thermal scan via voorschoten-infrarood@outlook.com. Following your application, an energy coach will contact you to schedule a date for the scan. You will be asked to provide some details about your home and energy consumption. This information is used to get an idea of potential energy losses even before the scan takes place. On the agreed date, the energy coach will visit your home to take the infrared images. During the visit, which lasts about 45 to 60 minutes, the coach will discuss their initial impressions with you and explain them using the photographs. Within two weeks, you will receive a report containing a discussion of the consumption data you provided and the infrared images. Additionally, you will receive advice on how to make your home more sustainable.

Extra Requirements
- As a 'return favour', the energy coaches ask for your cooperation. One year after the scan has been carried out, they would like to hear from you what you have done with the results. What measures have you taken and what effect did that have on living comfort and energy consumption? Your information may also motivate others.
- As a contribution towards incurred costs, the energy coaches request a fee of € 25.
