First home in Roosenhorst Completed

On Monday, February 1, the symbolic “first key” was presented to the future residents of the Roosenhorst new-construction project. The key and flowers were presented by Alderman Marcel Cramwinckel (Spatial Planning and Housing) and Marco van de Rotten (Project Manager at Vink Bouw) to the brand-new homeowners, Robert and Ingrid Hofenk.

Councilmember Cramwinckel: “With the completion of the homes in Roosenhorst, we have taken an important step toward restoring the landscape in the green buffer zone. This project also makes a significant contribution to addressing the acute housing shortage in Voorschoten. While homes in the higher-priced segment have been built here, projects are also in the pipeline for the mid-range and more affordable segments.  For example, dozens more homes will be built in the coming years on the Intratuin site, as part of the Starrenburg III project, and on the Segaar/Arsenaal site.”

Marco van de Rotten: “Developing the Roosenhorst plan was a challenging task. In terms of the planning process, we worked closely with the municipality to make housing development possible in this unique area. In addition, we enjoyed a particularly pleasant collaboration with the architectural firm Atelier Pro and landscape architect Sant&Co to bring all the plan’s ambitions to life, resulting in a fantastic residential neighborhood created with respect for the site and its surroundings. It’s a process and an end result that everyone involved can be proud of!”

Special Area

Roosenhorst is part of the Duivenvoorde Corridor, the rural area surrounding Voorschoten and Leidschendam. Greenhouses stood here until 2017. Greenhouse horticulture has disappeared, giving way to a more open and greener landscape with walking and hiking trails and residential development that fits in with the cultural and historical character of this unique area.
