First Sustainability Information Fair on September 24 at Kruispuntplein

On September 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the municipality of Voorschoten is organizing the first Sustainability Information Fair on the Kruispunt square in the city center. There, you can find information and inspiration on a wide range of topics related to sustainability. The fair will focus on energy, climate adaptation, sustainable consumption, green spaces, and biodiversity. A wide variety of organizations will be participating.

For example, the Sustainable Building Help Desk will be there with a mobile showroom. Would you like to know if your energy consumption is in line with that of homes in your neighborhood? If so, bring along relevant information, such as your annual energy usage figures. The “Measuring Is Knowing” working group will be at the fair to compare your figures with theirs. In addition, there will be energy coaches who are experienced in conducting infrared scans.

You can speak with city staff about Voorschoten’s plans for climate adaptation, the energy transition, the environment, and green spaces. There are also staff members who can explain the programs available to help you pay your energy bill if you’re on a low income.

Soil Animal Circus

Kids ages 6 to 99 can solve a rebus puzzle and win a bag of flower bulbs! There’s a soil-dwelling animal circus and—especially for kids—a model that lets you learn about flooding in a fun way.

The Compostbakkers will demonstrate how to make your own compost. The Bomenbond Rijnland knows everything there is to know about the trees in Voorschoten. Fairtrade Voorschoten will talk about Fairtrade products and about Voorschoten as a Fairtrade municipality. The Steenbreek Foundation is your go-to source for greener gardening tips, and Universal Greenfields knows everything there is to know about green roofs and facades. The Repair Café will be open all day on Schoolstraat.
