One-time energy subsidy for low-income residents
Low-income residents in Leidschendam-Voorburg, Voorschoten, and Wassenaar will receive a one-time payment of €800 per household to help pay their energy bills. This energy subsidy is provided by the national government. The municipalities are responsible for distributing the payments.
This involves a one-time payment of €800 per household for residents with an income of up to 120% of the social minimum.
Council members Floor Kist (Leidschendam-Voorburg), Paul de Bruijn (Voorschoten), and Inge Zweerts de Jong (Wassenaar): “We’ve noticed that many residents need the additional energy allowance. That’s why we’re pleased that we can now begin disbursing these payments to ease our residents’ financial concerns. In addition, we advise residents to make payment arrangements with their energy provider just to be on the safe side.”
Applications
Residents receiving social assistance benefits will automatically receive the energy allowance per household in their bank account before May 1, 2022. Residents who do not receive social assistance benefits but do have a low income can apply for the energy allowance starting in mid-May via lv.nl/energietoeslag.
