Voorschoten Sustainability Fund
The municipality of Voorschoten has had a Sustainability Fund since October 2021. Residents of Voorschoten with a good idea for making Voorschoten more sustainable can apply for a grant from that fund. However, there are conditions you must meet to receive such a grant.
Any resident, foundation, school, or business can submit an application. What kinds of projects can you receive funding for? For example, energy-saving measures, sustainable energy generation for at least 50 households, energy storage, a sustainable distribution system, or sustainable construction. But you can also apply for projects related to the circular economy, waste management, nature conservation initiatives, or the costs of implementing or communicating a sustainable initiative. You may not use the grant to cover personnel costs. You also may not use the grant to generate a profit. The amount you can apply for ranges from €500 to a maximum of €7,500.

But we’d really love it if you, as a young person, would apply for this grant too.

Step 1: Answer the questions below: quickly see if there’s a chance to get a grant for your own project
- Does this project help make Voorschoten more sustainable?
- Are you applying for the grant just once?
- Is this an application for a project you are leading or one involving a group you are part of?
- Are you a resident of or based in Voorschoten? Or is your project intended for Voorschoten and its residents?
- Is the amount I'm requesting between a minimum of €500 and a maximum of €7,500?
Did you answer “yes” to all the questions?
In that case, there is a chance that you may be eligible for a grant from the Sustainability Fund. However, this is not guaranteed. Official rules governing this have been established in a regulation. You can download the regulation at the bottom of this page. You can submit an application.
Step 2: How to Apply for the Sustainability Fund
Describe your project as clearly as possible using the following points, in no more than 2 typed A4 pages.
- What is the purpose of your campaign, and who is it intended for?
- What outcome do you hope to achieve with your initiative? How will that contribute to making Voorschoten more sustainable? For example, who—which target audience—are you reaching, and how? How many people are you reaching?
- Is a permit required for this activity?
- How and with whom will you carry out the project? Who is on the team, and who has which tasks and responsibilities?
- What is the timeline for your project? When will the project be completed?
- What will you use the grant for?
- What does your budget look like? (Expenses and any income)
- How can you make your initiative visible to all residents? (communication/participation)
- When can you send a review and financial report?
- Your information as the applicant: your name, mailing address, and email address.
- Your signature and the date below the application.
Step 3: Submit Your Application and Then
- Please send your request by email to: Duurzaam@voorschoten.nl. You should receive confirmation that your request has been received within 5 business days.
- Within eight weeks, you should receive a response from the municipality letting you know whether or not you will receive the grant and why.
