Three Residents Launch a Foundation for the Kruispuntkerk
Independent and community-supported operation of the new cultural center in the Kruispuntkerk. That is the goal of the foundation established by three residents. As a token of appreciation, they received flowers last week from Alderman Hubert Schokker.
The Municipality of Voorschoten has been the official owner of the Kruispuntkerk since May 11. With this purchase, the municipality took an important step toward redeveloping the church into a future-proof cultural center. Following the redevelopment, its operation and management will be handled by an independent foundation. As a result, residents will soon have a central hub for culture, socializing, and community activities.
A great step
The initiators are Eric Daalder, Eduard van Bockel, and Tineke Vrolijk. “I’m very pleased that these three residents reached out to the project leader and me,” says Alderman Hubert Schokker. “Establishing the foundation is a great step toward realizing the cultural center in the Kruispuntkerk. This brings us a little closer to a vibrant and future-proof cultural heart for Voorschoten.”
Cultural organizations
At the moment, preparations are mainly taking place behind the scenes. For example, the final touches are being put on the permit, after which the bidding process will begin. The members of the foundation will also be getting to know the cultural organizations in Voorschoten better. They are organizing their first joint meeting in mid-June.
