Village Song

The municipality has a village anthem that we gladly sing together to show our pride in Voorschoten. Ine Duijnkerke wrote the lyrics, Rob Balfoort composed the music, and the lead vocalist is Joy van Dongeren.

The village anthem connects men and women, young and old, new residents and people who have lived here for generations. Through the lyrics, we show together how proud we are of Voorschoten, our rich history, the abundance of greenery, the vibrant community life, and the strong sense of community. The music can be performed in any desired style, such as jazz. We let it resound at celebrations, commemorations, sports competitions, and every other moment we experience together.

Made in and for Voorschoten

The new village anthem was made in and for Voorschoten. The lyrics were written by Ine Duijnkerke. Ine is a writer, speaker, teacher, and chair of Poëzie Voorschoten. With her golden pen, she brought the new village anthem to life. Rob Balfoort composed the music. Rob has been involved with music from a young age, from playing the piano and trumpet to conducting the Laurentius Music Association for many years.

Recording

The village anthem was recorded at Studio 336 on Leidseweg. Lead singer Joy van Dongeren collaborated with a group to bring this special project to life. The group of singers consisted of Jaap Booij, Cees Bremmer, Julieta Siebenga, Alix DE Voogd EN Lovis DE Voogd. With their diverse ages and backgrounds, they brought a wonderful combination of professionalism and musicality to the studio.
