Village Song

The municipality has a village song that we enjoy singing together to express our pride in Voorschoten. Ine Duijnkerke wrote the lyrics, Rob Balfoort composed the music, and Joy van Dongeren is the lead singer.

The village song brings together men and women, young and old, new residents, and those who have lived here for generations. Through the lyrics, we show together how proud we are of Voorschoten, our rich history, our abundant green spaces, our vibrant community life, and our strong sense of community. The music can be performed in any style, including jazz. We play it at celebrations, commemorations, sports events, and any other occasion we share together.

Made in and for Voorschoten

The new village song was created in and for Voorschoten. The lyrics were written by Ine Duijnkerke. Ine is a writer, speaker, and teacher, as well as the chair of Poëzie Voorschoten. With her golden pen, she brought the new village song to life. Rob Balfoort composed the music. Rob has been involved in music since a young age, from playing the piano and trumpet to conducting the Laurentius Music Association for many years.

Recording

The village song was recorded at Studio 336 on Leidseweg. Lead singer Joy van Dongeren collaborated with a group to bring this special project to life. The group of singers consisted of Jaap Booij, Cees Bremmer, Julieta Siebenga, Alix de Voogd, and Lovis de Voogd. With their diverse ages and backgrounds, they brought a wonderful combination of professionalism and musicality to the studio.
