Help Shape Our Security Policy
The Municipality of Voorschoten is developing a new safety policy for 2027–2030: the Comprehensive Safety Plan (IVP). To further shape this policy, the municipality is interested in hearing the experiences and opinions of residents and business owners. A short survey is therefore available on the website.
Safety begins in neighborhoods where people know and trust one another. The municipality will invest in this through a neighborhood-focused approach, in which, for example, community police officers, special enforcement officers, and youth workers, together with residents, serve as the neighborhood’s constant eyes and ears. The goal is to tackle nuisance, social insecurity, and crime.
High on the list
“Safety is high on our list of priorities,” says Mayor Nadine Stemerdink. “Whether it’s about criminal activity, residential burglaries, social safety, or cybersecurity—as a municipality, we’re doing everything we can to ensure that people of all ages can enjoy living, studying, relaxing, and working here. I’m glad that residents and business owners can share their experiences and opinions with us. I therefore urge everyone to fill out the survey. It takes no more than 10 minutes.”
Sample Questions
The survey includes questions such as: In what situations or locations do you feel less safe in Voorschoten? What should the municipality prioritize in the coming years? And do you feel sufficiently informed about what the municipality is doing in the area of safety? Road safety is also an important issue for the municipality, but it is not covered in the survey or the Comprehensive Safety Plan.
