Help shape the new parking policy for the municipality of Voorschoten
The Municipality of Voorschoten believes it is important for every resident to be able to live and work comfortably. In the coming years, the number of residents in our village will also increase. More residents mean more homes and, likely, more cars. And more cars mean greater demand for parking spaces. That is why the municipality began drafting a new parking policy this year. Residents, business owners, and community organizations are warmly invited to share their ideas on the parking policy. You can do so until December 24 by participating in a survey.
Parking policy refers to the rules governing the parking of cars, mopeds, bicycles, and other vehicles. Parking policy also addresses the number of parking spaces for cars and bicycles, for example in new construction plans. In addition, a parking policy may describe how the municipality intends to promote other forms of mobility—whether or not they are cleaner—such as walking, public transportation, shared mobility, and electric vehicles.
Future-proof
Councilman Hubert Schokker: “The Municipality of Voorschoten is striving for a future-proof parking policy, one in which it is clear to everyone how we, as a town, handle parking in existing (residential) neighborhoods as well as in future construction projects. Trends and developments may well make it possible for the car to play a less significant role in how we get around. But of course, we must not lose sight of the fact that car use is still very much a part of life in Voorschoten for the time being. I’m very curious to see the results and hear the input from our residents!”
