Help shape the Municipality of Voorschoten’s 2023 Housing Vision

The municipality of Voorschoten believes it is important to ensure there are enough affordable housing units for every demographic. That is why we are developing a housing vision, in which we outline our goals. Since we are interested in hearing residents’ wishes and ideas, everyone is invited to participate in a survey through May 1.

In drafting the 2023 Housing Vision, the municipality of Voorschoten must adhere to national and regional agreements. However, we have some flexibility in shaping that portion ourselves. For that part, we’d like to hear the wishes and ideas of our residents. The survey consists of 23 questions. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to complete. The data will be processed anonymously.

Tailoring Construction to Needs

“The need is great, whether it’s first-time homebuyers, seniors looking to move up, or other residents who would like to live in our village,” says Alderman Hans van der Elst. “That’s why we want to get started quickly, using temporary solutions such as flexible housing where possible. That’s also why we’re conducting this survey. The more residents who answer the questions, the better we can tailor the construction to meet the needs, as far as possible. I’m looking forward to the results!”

Toward a Final Proposal

In addition to the survey, the municipality will engage in discussions with, for example, project developers, real estate agents, and housing associations. There is also the “Housing and Construction” participation group, in which residents contribute their ideas on housing and construction in Voorschoten. The Mayor and Aldermen are expected to submit a final proposal for the new housing vision to the city council by the end of 2023.
