Help shape the future of the “ centre ” in Voorschoten

The “ centre ” as the heart of Voorschoten. What does that entail? Last year, the municipality began developing a spatial vision for the “ centre ”: the development vision. On Wednesday, March 22, we look forward to discussing the initial sketches with a broad group of stakeholders and interested parties.

The municipality of Voorschoten wants to ensure that the “ centre ” is a place where residents, business owners, and visitors enjoy spending time—a place where fun, small-scale events take place, and where there is room for new developments, such as affordable housing, additional cultural facilities, or, if desired, small-scale offices.

centre keep it lively

“Voorschoten has a beautiful centre,” says Paul de Bruijn, Alderman . “Just think of the picturesque Voorstraat with its Dutch linden trees or the restored Dorpskerk. We have our own museum, nice shops, an ice cream parlor, and so on. At the same time, we recognize that there is work to be done. If we want to keep our centre vibrant, we need to invest in housing, recreation, and a business-friendly environment.”

Last summer, the municipality spoke with several dozen residents at the Friday market about the “ centre.” We asked for your ideas and what you consider important. We also spoke with business associations and property owners, among others. We then asked the urban planning firm KuiperCompagnons to use all these ideas and wishes to create a plan for the “ centre ”: the development vision.

I'm curious to hear your additions

We would now like to discuss the initial drafts of the development vision with you. We’ll show you how the “ centre ” can become the heart of Voorschoten, what needs to be done to make that happen, and how we’ve incorporated your ideas. But the development vision isn’t finished yet. We’re eager to hear your suggestions so we can make the vision even better. Together with you, we’ll continue to refine the vision.

May we count on you again? We look forward to welcoming you on Wednesday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. at the Kruispuntkerk. The meeting will last until approximately 9:00 p.m. No registration is required. If you are unable to attend but would still like to stay informed about the development vision, please contact project leader Kees Bulthuis at 14071 or send an email to centre@voorschoten.nl. We look forward to seeing you there.
