The Voorschoten City Council is committed to heart health
Today, the municipality of Voorschoten donated two automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to the Hartveilig Voorschoten Foundation. The foundation’s chairman, Ramon Sweys, personally installed the AEDs at the fire station and at Restaurant de Knip. Hubert Schokker and Paul de Bruijn were also present on behalf of the municipality.
Marcel van Teijlingen, owner of Restaurant de Knip, brought the limited coverage of the cardiac safety zone near his restaurant to the attention of the municipality. Aldermen Hubert Schokker and Paul de Bruijn were happy to address the issue.
“It’s always wonderful to see how our business owners’ commitment contributes to the amenities in our village,” says Councilor de Bruijn. “Through this collaboration, we’re taking an important step toward making Voorschoten safer for everyone.”
Councilmember Schokker: “The installation of these AEDs has further improved cardiac safety in Voorschoten. But we’re not there yet. It would be great if even more citizen first responders would sign up for a CPR course.”
CPR Café at the Fire Station
Once every two to three months, the Hartveilig Voorschoten Foundation, in collaboration with the volunteer fire department, organizes an open house at the CPR café at the fire station. During these sessions, interested participants can talk with one another and practice using an AED and a CPR manikin.
Anyone who registers as a citizen responder after completing a CPR course can be called upon through HartslagNu to assist with CPR. From now on, these responders can also quickly grab an AED at De Knip and the fire station.
