College Voorschoten Lends a Hand During NL Doet
On Friday, May 28, and Saturday, May 29, NLdoet—the largest volunteer event in the Netherlands, organized by the Oranjefonds—will take place. On Friday morning, the mayor and aldermen of the municipality of Voorschoten rolled up their sleeves to help out at the Adegeest Residential Care Center on Bachlaan. The municipal council helped with the activities the residential care center had planned for the residents—all, of course, in a safe manner and in compliance with COVID-19 safety measures.
The Adegeest Residential Care Center wanted to put its residents in the spotlight during NLdoet. Together with their volunteers, they treated the 52 residents from various wards to a fun morning and afternoon on the terrace. They baked poffertjes, provided drinks, and the local ice cream vendor treated everyone to a delicious ice cream. All of this was accompanied by lively music.
Mayor Nadine Stemerdink: “It’s so great to see Voorschoten rolling up its sleeves together today and tomorrow for NLdoet! Volunteering deserves to be in the spotlight every day, because where would we be without all those volunteers who, day in and day out, ensure that community organizations can continue to operate or provide help to, for example, a partner who needs care? The municipal executive is also happy to lend a hand today at the Adegeest Residential Care Center!’
