Executive board Puts the Segaar-Arsenaal zoning plan draft up for public review

On May 9, the Municipal Planning and Development Committee ( executive board ) of the mayor and aldermen of the municipality of Voorschoten gave the green light to make the draft Segaar-Arsenaal zoning plan available for public review. This zoning plan will allow for the construction of 100 new homes on the site along Korte Vliet.

Draft Zoning Plan for Segaar-Arsenaal

On the north side of the development (on the left in the image), two apartment buildings will be constructed, containing a total of 43 apartments. The lower building will have 4 stories, and the upper building will have 5 stories above a semi-underground parking garage. The rest of the development area will consist of 8 duplexes, 48 single-family row homes, and 1 detached home. The new neighborhood will be accessible via Trompweg. On Leidseweg, there will only be a route for emergency services.

Alderman Hans van der Elst is pleased with the design. “If we’re able to carry out this plan, Voorschoten will gain yet another pleasant residential neighborhood. The waterfront location is fantastic, and there’s plenty of green space, especially on the east side. With 30% social housing, we’re also on the right track. This puts us ahead of the 2023 Housing Vision, in which we state that we consider it important for there to be sufficient affordable housing for every demographic.”

Construction on the Arsenaal site will be limited. Thirteen of the 100 homes will be built here. This will implement the spatial framework previously established by the “ municipal council .”
