Check your bike lights during the regional bike light campaign
Fall has begun, and the days are getting shorter. Properly functioning bike lights are especially important during this time, for your own safety and that of others. That’s why the Fietsersbond, Veilig Verkeer Nederland, bike shops in Holland Rijnland, and local municipalities are once again participating in the regional bike light campaign this year.
On Saturday, November 1, residents can have their bike lights checked for free at participating bike shops. “In Voorschoten, you can visit Rijwielspecialist Besuyen at Voorstraat 13 and Van Vliet Tweewielers at Leidseweg 300 on this special day,” says Alderman Hubert Schokker, who will also be stopping by to take a look. “If a repair is needed, you’ll only pay for the parts—no labor charges. So that’s a great deal!”
A good time to get everything in order
During the week of November 3 through 8, residents can also visit participating bicycle shops (please note: Besuyen and Van Vliet are closed on Mondays). During this period, you’ll receive a 10 percent discount on the total cost (parts plus labor) for bicycle light repairs. The police will be conducting extra checks on bicycle lights during this time. Riding a bike without lights carries a 75-euro fine, so this bike light promotion is a good time to make sure everything is in order.
