Mayor Stemerdink Presents a Royal Honor to Ms. Conny van der Meijden

On Saturday, November 19, Mayor Nadine Stemerdink presented a royal decoration to Ms. C. van der Meijden. The ceremony took place at the Postillion Hotel in Bunnik during the national ALS Patients and Caregivers Day. 

Ms. van der Meijden has been active in the ALS-PLS-PSMA-HSP Diagnosis Working Group of Spierziekten Nederland since 2010. She began as editor of the newsletter, to which she also contributes extensively. She has also served as secretary since 2012. In addition, as a volunteer on the working group, she has been involved in facilitating peer-to-peer contact, organizing meetings and conferences, and promoting patient participation in research.

She is also involved in organizing events in collaboration with the ALS Foundation, the ALS Patient Association, and the ALS Center (including ALS Family Day, Patient and Caregiver Day, and the ALS Conference). She participates in communication meetings between these parties and is in frequent contact with all of them regarding patient outreach.

Since 2014, Ms. van der Meijden has served as a board member and secretary of the ALS Patient Association. She is involved in all activities related to administration, board members, or members of the patient advisory council. As a board member in charge of Care, she is responsible for all activities and projects related to the quality of life of ALS patients.

At Mixed Hockey Club Forescate, Ms. van der Meijden has served as manager of various youth teams and has contributed significantly to the production of the club’s annual publication, “Forescate Facts.” In addition, she has been the web editor for MHC Forescate for 15 years.  

Ms. van der Meijden is being awarded the title of Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
