Bridges on Valkeweg Closed Between September 7, 2021, and April 1, 2022

After careful analysis, it has become clear that the existing bridges adjacent to Huize Bijdorp no longer meet current standards. Starting September 7, contractor Gebr. Schouls of Leiden will begin work to replace the existing bridges one by one with new bridges that meet current needs and requirements. To do this, the bridges will first be removed, then new foundations will be laid, and finally the new bridges will be installed. This work is expected to continue through April 1, 2022. To carry out the work, Valkeweg will be completely closed to all types of traffic at the bridges. This means that not only car traffic but also cyclists and pedestrians will be unable to use Valkeweg. The detour route runs through the neighborhood to Veurseweg, so you can find your way from there. After April 1, 2022, the completely renovated bridges will be open to traffic again.
