Residents' Meeting on a Climate-Resilient Krimwijk
The Municipality of Voorschoten is hosting a residents’ meeting on April 8 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Bondsgebouw. During this meeting, we will discuss climate change, the associated risks, and possible solutions. Residents of the Krimwijk neighborhood are cordially invited.
As a municipality, we work together with our residents to mitigate the effects of climate change. In the Krimwijk neighborhood, 40% of the land is privately owned. Simply adapting public spaces is not enough to prevent heat waves, droughts, and flooding. That is why we really need the help of our residents.
The climate is changing
Due to climate change, summers are becoming hotter and drier, while at the same time we are experiencing more intense or prolonged rainfall. This leads to heat waves, droughts, and flooding. For example, buildings or roads can become flooded. Hot days can cause physical discomfort. The Municipality of Voorschoten therefore adopted itsclimate adaptation policy in 2023. This policy includes guidelines to prepare Voorschoten for these climate changes.
Collaboration
Municipal policy staff will be present at the meeting to inform residents of the Krimwijk neighborhood about the risks posed by climate change. Together, we will explore possible solutions. We would also like to identify the challenges residents are already facing.

The meeting will take place on Monday, April 8, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Bondsgebouw, Leidseweg 102, Voorschoten. This meeting is the first in a series that will be held in various neighborhoods, such as Vlietwijk and Starrenburg, over the coming year. Registration for the meeting is not required.
