Be prepared for a potential emergency

I'm well prepared. How about you? That's the message on the posters that can be seen along the roads in Voorschoten starting today. The purpose of the posters is to encourage residents to prepare for a potential emergency.

Residents are used to having drinking water, electricity, and the internet. But sometimes these services can fail. That’s why it’s a good idea to put together an emergency kit, come up with an emergency plan, and discuss it with family, friends, and neighbors. In 2025, the municipality published a brochure. More than 3,500 residents picked up a copy at a supermarket, the library, or city hall. As the next step in the campaign, posters will be displayed along the roads over the next two weeks.

Famous Residents

There are four different posters. Mayor Nadine Stemerdink: “We photographed residents whom many of us know. I’m grateful that they were willing to participate. Kindergarten teacher Alexandra is pictured on the poster holding long-shelf-life crackers; firefighter Leontine poses with bottles of water; florist Marco displays candles and matches; and chef Naceur holds a flashlight and an emergency radio. I hope these posters will once again inspire residents to take action.”
