General Information on the House of Representatives Election
The most recent House of Representatives election took place on March 17, 2021. Normally, House of Representatives elections are held every four years, or sooner if a cabinet falls and snap elections are called.
The House of Representatives consists of 150 members. The main responsibilities of the House of Representatives are: overseeing the government and enacting new laws.
The requirements for theright to vote in elections for the House of Representatives are: the voter must be a Dutch citizen, be 18 years of age or older, and not be disqualified from voting.
Who is eligible to vote?
You are eligible to vote for the House of Representatives in the municipality of Voorschoten if you:
- lives in the municipality of Voorschoten and is registered there as of October 9, 2023.
- You are 18 years of age or older on Election Day.
- have Dutch citizenship.
- have not been disqualified from voting by a court.
Vote Count for the House of Representatives Elections
The Municipal Executive has decided that a central vote count will take place during the elections on November 22, 2023. This means that on election day, the number of voters and the number of votes per slate will be determined at all polling stations. On November 23, the day after the election, the Municipal Election Board will count the votes by list and by candidate at the De Vliethorst Sports Hall (Burg. Van der Haarplein 9 in Voorschoten). The count will begin on November 23, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
