100th charging station put into service in Voorschoten
This morning, Councilor Schokker unveiled the100th public charging station in Voorschoten. This milestone marks an important step toward making our town more sustainable.
Alderman Hubert Schokker, responsible for Transportation: “The opening of the 100th charging station is an important milestone for our municipality. It’s great to see how our network of charging stations continues to grow. In the coming years, the municipality will, of course, remain committed to expanding the number of public charging stations and, in doing so, promoting electric driving.”
Electric vehicles are the future
More and more drivers, including those in Voorschoten, are opting for an electric motor instead of an internal combustion engine. Some electric vehicle drivers use a charging station on their own property. However, the vast majority of users rely on public charging stations. In recent years, the municipality of Voorschoten, in collaboration with charging station operator Equans, has made significant efforts to install more public charging stations. This allows us to keep up with the demand for electric vehicle charging.
Data-Driven Placement
In recent years, charging stations in Voorschoten have primarily been installed in response to requests from electric vehicle drivers. Since 2023, we have also been installing charging stations as soon as user data from existing stations indicates that a new one is needed. This “data-driven” approach ensures that the network of charging stations better meets the demand.
